VIRGIN LONDON MARATHON 2010

All of the MGA Golden Bond Places for this year's London Marathon have been allocated.

We would like to wish all the runners in the MGA Team the very best of luck with their training and fundraising for the BIG event!

Meet one of our team......I am a Detective Constable in the North East of England currently posted to one of the Police Child Abuse Units. My daily routine is dealing with mainly child victims of abuse. It is a job I enjoy greatly and as part of a specialised team we identify and target people who prey on children in our communities.

I am married with two children and I thank my wife Louise and the children for their support during my training for this event.

I chose the MGA to support for the London Marathon because of a very personal reason. My great friend Bob Barron was diagnosed with this condition and I would like to help him and others suffering, to fund research and care.

Bob is a true inspiration to me. He never complains and carries out tireless charity fund-raising even throughout ill periods. A genuine person who never asks for help.

Prior to my current employment I served along side Bob in Kent Fire Brigade. Our great friendship was forged over many years and I was welcomed into Bob’s family. One thing I would never be able to repay is the compassion shown to me by him and his lovely family. This ‘true’ friendship is hard to come by these days and I feel proud to honour him in my charity choice.

At the moment I am running approximately 30 miles a week in all weathers, keeping my fingers crossed for a sunny April day.
